What are the New EPA Lead Laws?
It's really very simple. If you offer or perform any services that may disturb lead based paint in homes or child occupied facilities like schools or day cares built before 1978 you must apply for and receive EPA Certification and follow lead safe work practices. In addition, all jobs must be supervised by Certified Renovators. Certified Renovators are individuals who have completed an EPA accredited training course.
Renovation firms must have at least one certified Renovator who has completed lead paint training and certification from an EPA approved provider.
Fines for non-compliance are $32,500 per violation per day or imprisonment or both.
